Police conduct anti-terror drill (25.8.2017)
Police conducted an exercise at Hong Kong Stadium today to enhance their counter-terrorism capabilities.
The drill simulated a bomb attack during a concert, in which a mock group of terrorists attacked the audience with choppers.
The Counter Terrorism Response Unit then arrived and subdued the attackers, and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau detonated a suicide vest.
Police Public Relations Branch Senior Superintendent Tse Chun-chung said: “There is no specific intelligence to suggest Hong Kong, or any event to be held in Hong Kong, is a likely target of terrorist attack. Hong Kong’s terrorism threat level remains moderate at the moment.
“But looking at the global situation, we cannot predict what tactics will be used by terrorists all over the world. What Police will do is maintain a high level of vigilance. We are duty bound to ensure all international events to be held in Hong Kong are not attacked by any terrorist activities.”
He said Police will do a risk assessment before any event is held in Hong Kong and take necessary measures. (
